Our study was featured in an article from the Conversation on the impact of COVID-19 on parental depression and anxiety, as well as its effect on kids. Mental health problems are expected to rise as a secondary effect of COVID-19 and parental stress, anxiety and depression are expected to have long-term consequences on children.

Dr. Giesbrecht was interviewed by Global News where he reported that there appear to be elevated symptoms of postpartum depression and anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic. The data suggests that more new mothers are experiencing increased postpartum anxiety and depression in the first three months after giving birth.

Our study results indicate a substantial increase in anxiety and depression symptoms in pregnant women due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These elevated symptoms may have long-term impacts on their children.

Our Pregnancy During the COVID-19 Pandemic study was featured on the Radio-Canada podcast «La croisée». The present results of this study show that the rates of anxiety and depression in pregnant people are considerably high compared to those before the COVID-19 pandemic.
